Styling furniture for limewash walls

Updated: Oct 2

Limewash paint has been gaining popularity for its eco-friendly qualities and mediterranean aesthetic. If you've recently applied limewash to your walls, here are some furniture styling tips to create a cohesive space:

  1. Look for Natural Materials: Limewash paint brings a natural, organic charm, so it pairs well with furniture made from natural materials. Think wooden pieces with a weathered or raw finish, rattan, and stone.

  2. Opt for Soft, Neutral Tones: Here at Dalray, we are known for the light neutral tones of our Limewash Paint Powder that lets the texture of limewash shine through (our Latte colour is a favourite). To keep the focus on the texture of limewash, choose furniture in soft, complementary neutral tones. Beige, cream, soft grays, and muted greens work well to complement the subtle hues of the paint. This approach create a cohesive colour palette that doesn’t compete with the walls.

  1. Play with Textures: Limewash walls have a unique texture that adds visual interest, so consider including some sparing textural interest in your furniture. A plush velvet sofa, a woollen rug, and a wooden coffee table can add depth and bounce beautifully off Limewash walls.

  2. Incorporate Vintage Elements: With a history stretching centuries, limewash paint evokes a sense of timelessness that can be a joy to match in your furniture choices. Vintage or antique furniture pieces can add character and a one-of-a-kind look to your space. Items with classic lines, ornate details, or a natural distress or patina can perfectly complement limewash, particularly more moody colours like our Dove Grey shown below.

  3. Add Subtle Accents: Our limewash provides a soft backdrop, adding subtle accents can inject personality into the room. Choose decorative elements like brass or bronze hardware, ceramic vases, or patterned textiles in muted tones. These accents can enhance the overall aesthetic without overshadowing the gentle variation of limewash walls.

By focusing on furniture featuring natural materials, neutral tones, and varied textures, you can create a beautifully balanced space that highlights the charm of limewash paint.
